One person injured in tanker fire at Council Bluffs ethanol plant

Officials say one person was injured in a tanker fire that took place at an ethanol plant in Council Bluffs on Friday afternoon. 

According to Council Bluffs Fire, firefighters were called to Southwest Iowa Renewable Fuels near exit 42 on I-29 just after 3:30. p.m..

According to CBFD, a worker was loading the tanker truck with ethanol when it exploded in flames. 

Nebraska Medicine officials said one person was badly injured and 90 percent of that person's body was burned.

That person was taken to UNMC via a medical helicopter. 

Half of dozen fire departments helped out to battle the fire and crews are still at the scene to fully contain the fire.
