Heat caused the intersection of 84th and Harrison to buckle and now traffic backups are frequent in the area.
Inside the middle of the La Vista intersection, the pavement is peaked and traffic cones are forbidding some left turns. According to the city, the pavement buckled around 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
The pavement is expected to be repaired by the end of the week, the city says.
TRAFFIC ALERT: concrete has buckled at 84th and Harrison. Lanes are restricted in all four directions, and will be through the rest of week as crews work to fix it. We will provide more info as it’s available.

Ashley Carver says she has a full memorial day planned and sitting in traffic isn't on the agenda.
"It's all the way backed up if you can see," she said. "It's just crazy. This is not normal traffic, especially almost at noon."
The intersection is blocks away from a major road construction project on 84th in Ralston. La Vista police say to take a different route, if possible.
La Vista wasn't the only hot spot. A lieutenant with the Council Bluffs Police Department posted pictures to Twitter showing buckling at the Interstate 29 overpass at Nebraska Avenue and on Interstate 80 eastbound near the South Expressway.
Big shout out to @iowadot guys. 102 degrees, a holiday weekend, and they still came in to keep the public safe. Thanks Guys! pic.twitter.com/JTwLJbu8SM
