OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — If you were thinking about taking a stroll through Fontenelle Forest, officials with the park ask that you don't due to a controlled deer hunt taking place.
According to a release from Fontenelle, the closure has been in place since Monday and will continue through tomorrow.
Although signage and other methods of sharing the information have been initiated by Fontenelle Forest, it says reports of people on the property are still be received which are "a serious safety risk, as we have active hunting occurring."
In addition to trails, the Fontenelle Forest Nature Center building and Raptor Woodland Refuge are also closed. Member fobs will not work at gates.
If you're looking for a projectile-free environment, Fontenelle suggests its Neale Woods trails in North Omaha.
According to Fontenelle Forest's website, the hunt was limited to archery and muzzleloader hunting.
