It's the news 9-year-old Daisy Anguiano has been patiently waiting for months to hear, she can finally go back to school.
Last year doctors diagnosed Anguiano with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. That diagnosis meant radiation and chemotherapy. For a year Anguiano has received treatment at Nebraska Medicine. Those treatments kept her out of school. A tough adjustment for a little girl who loves to learn.
Thursday, her treatment team told her the news she's been waiting to hear, Anguiano could go back to school. Today she joined her classmates at Gateway Elementary School.
"Well right now I'm just so happy because I finally get to learn again," said Anguiano.
The 4th grader says she excited to be back in the classroom. She's ready to enjoy time with friends, catch up on her studies and she's even looking forward to homework.
Today as she took her seat at school Anguiano had a message for other young cancer patients, "All kids with cancer, you're going to go back to school too, you hear me, you're going to go back to school too."
