Omaha Police are investigating the events leading up to a pedestrian being struck by a car just after 1:00 AM Sunday morning.

According to police, the crash happened near North 26th Street and Ames Avenue. While the investigation is still underway, police have released the identity of both the driver and the woman who was hit.

37-year-old Ameca Hatten suffered injuries to her pelvis, abdomen, and head which are being called possibly life-threatening.

Police say Hatten was a passenger in another car before the crash. She got out of that car due to a possible disturbance in the road and walked into the westbound traffic lane on Ames Ave.

That's when 52-year-old Brenda Prince hit her with her SUV.

Hatten was taken by medics to Nebraska Medicine where she is in critical condition.
