Ómaha Catholic Church leaders are making plans to deal with the population growth out west.

In a plan released Tuesday, a committee looked at attendance trends at many of the area's Catholic churches and schools. To meet a need, the plan calls for the creation of a Catholic elementary school in Gretna. It also recommends the Archdiocese buy three sites for the construction of future parishes. They are in far northwest Omaha at 180th and Military, 204th & West Center in Elkhorn, and in Sarpy County on Highway 370 between 114th & 132nd.

The Archdiocese says it will finalize the plan in the next few weeks.
