BELLEVUE, Neb. (KMTV) -- — A lot of local businesses are feeling the pinch from the pandemic, and that includes some wellness practices throughout the area.

Hoogeveen Chiropractic Wellness Center in Bellevue is one place that says they’ve made major changes to do as much social distancing as they can.

Though Nebraska doesn’t have a “Stay at Home” order, chiropractors have been deemed essential services by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Dr. Gregg Hoogeveen says they’ve seen about 1/3 less people coming in. He understands people’s fears, but wants them to know they’re still open to keep you healthy.

“The main reason we feel that’s important is that we keep people out of the ER and doctor’s offices with back pain and headaches, so they can treat the more serious cases,” Dr. Hoogeveen explained.

They’ve taken out half the chairs in their waiting room, while exam room chairs and tables are being sanitized after every use.

They say because they’re health care and not sick care, people with fevers and coughs are not coming to them for help.
