The Omaha City Council on Tuesday approved 6-1 a recommendation for a liquor license for the Tobacco Hut located at 62nd Street and Ames Avenue.

The approval was made with a stipulation that the store can only serve wine and beer as well as singles bigger than 24 ounces.

The application will go before the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission, which will make the final decision on whether to grant the license.

The council also voted 4-3 against a recommendation for Cuming Food Mart at 40th and Cuming streets to add spirits and wine over 500mL. The store is currently allowed to sell beer.
