City leaders are meeting Tuesday to potentially add more oversight of Omaha apartments following the forced evacuation of the Yale Park Apartments earlier this month.
"It's time for us to say enough is enough, 500 people being displaced is a disgrace," City Councilman Ben Gray said.
Council members will discuss possible requirements for rental properties in the metro. Gray said Yale Park wasn't the only complex with poor conditions in the area and the landlord issue has been a problem in many parts of North Omaha.
In a recent letter, the Metro Omaha Property Owners Association said the proposed landlord registry is unnecessary.
