City Council to vote on "A Way to Work" plan for homeless

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Salvation Army and the City of Omaha are teaming up to help area homeless find work.

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert it will help provide employment, training and services to the homeless.

The Salvation Army will employ people for 90 days and those workers will work in the city's greenhouse and learn from the horticulture staff. They will also help with planting and gardening come spring and participants who complete the program will have an opportunity to work for the city in seasonal jobs.

The city is also providing transportation to and from job sites.
