Thursday morning honored a city worker who was killed in January.
Sal Fidone was filling potholes when a car struck him near 144th and U st.
Friday is Arbor Day and the city planted a tree in member of Fidone. The tree was planted at the southwest street maintenance facility.
“He would think it was great, I mean, you can just tell by the love that he has for all these people.,” said Fidone’s mother Shirley Fidone, “And he always thought about his workers.. He would have thought this would have been great.”
The tree they planted was a swamp white oak and can live for more than 300 years.
