LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — A 21-year-old inmate at Community Corrections Center Omaha was declared dead on Tuesday.
Officials say Carmichael Elya was found unresponsive in his cell around 4:20 a.m. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Elya was serving 6-to-10 years on a charge of first degree sexual assault out of Sarpy County.
The cause of death has yet to be determined. A grand jury will now conduct an investigation.
