OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Council Bluffs Police are searching for a driver involved in a crash that killed a motorcyclist Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to I-29 southbound near mile marker 53 at the 9th exit for a motorcycle accident around 3 p.m.

According to a witness, a group of three motorcycles were traveling southbound on I-29 in a row on the inside lane when a light blue vehicle came from I-480 E onto I-29 S and tried to merge to the inside lane.

Police say the suspect vehicle only let the first motorcycle pass then merged, striking the second motorcycle which was pushed into the median and struck a guardrail.

The adult male motorcyclist was transported to Nebraska Medicine where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say the adult female passenger was also transported to Nebraska Medicine with non-life threatening injuries.

The male and female are from Tennessee and their names aren't being released currently.

Authorities describe the vehicle as small and light blue and fled the area after the crash.
