Voters in Council Bluffs are going to the polls Tuesday to decide whether the police department will get a new headquarters.
The city wants to issue $20 million in bonds to pay for the new headquarters. Right now Council Bluffs police work in a building with only 19,000 square feet of space, and officers need more room. More than 40 community meetings on the issue have been held leading up to Tuesday's vote.
In order for the bond issue to pass, at least 60 percent of voters must say yes. Polls opened at 7 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. tonight.
