OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Creighton Blue Crew is part of the spirit squad at Creighton.

Decked out in blue and white striped pants and donning face-paint, the Blue Crew is a staple at Creighton home sporting events for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer and volleyball. At basketball games, the group stands the entire game behind the opposing team's basket, cheering on the Bluejays throughout the game.

"I think we are crazy but it's a constructive crazy," said Jake Russett, a senior in the Blue Crew.

"You just are basically in the game in the best seat in the house," said Erin Goaley, a Creighton junior and the Blue Crew's president.

Growing up in Omaha and attending Creighton games, Goaley knew she wanted to be a member of the Blue Crew since she was little.

"I think I came out of the womb in a Creighton onesie," Goaley said. "I always saw them go out and dancing and from age four that is what I always wanted to do."

During the game, the Blue Crew not only leads the cheers, but also throws shirts in to the crowd, runs the Creighton flags on the court and entertains the crowd dancing.

"Everybody needs an outlet, this is my time to go crazy for three hours and be a Jays fan," Russett said.

Every year more than 150 people try-out for a spot on the Blue Crew. The individual members attend around two games each month, sharing the contests with other crew members. Each game can be a four to five hour time commitment. For the seniors in the Blue Crew, Sunday was the day they were honored for participating in the organization for all four years.

"This is the moment that we all hoped it would one day come to where we are seniors in the Blue Crew," Russett said. "That has always been my personal goal, can I make it a better game for someone who came out to support the Jays today."
