Crimestoppers tip leads to US Bank robbery suspect's arrest by Omaha FBI task force

Authorities arrested Traynell Toney, 24, this afternoon in connection with two recent US Bank robberies inside two separate Baker's Supermarkets locations.

According to a press release issued by the Omaha Police Department, officers from the Greater Omaha FBI Bank Robbery Task Force took Toney to Omaha Police Headquarters for questioning, then booked him at the Douglas County Department of Corrects on two counts of robbery.

Authorities say Toney is connected to two recent US Bank robberies at two different Baker's Supermarkets locations:

At 12:23 p.m. Friday June 2, Omaha Police responded to reports of a robbery at the US Bank inside Baker's Supermarket at 5555 N. 90th St.

At 11:52 a.m. Friday June 9, police responded to reports of a robbery at the US Bank inside Baker's Supermarket at 13250 W. Maple Road.

In both instances, employees reported a black man entered the bank, produced a note stating he had a gun, and demanded money, then fled with cash in a dark-colored sedan, the press release states. Video surveillance cameras recorded the robberies at both locations, the document states.

Authorities say a tip to Omaha Crimestoppers helped task force officers identify the bank robbery suspect, and encourage anyone with futher information about this incident or any other robberies to call 402-444-STOP.

Tips made to the hotline are anonymous, and those leading to the arrest of bank robbery suspects are eligible for up to a $20,000.00 award.
