On Monday May 8th Officers arrived at 1901 Binney Street for a call of a child locked in a vehicle.  A witness on the scene told the officers that while walking her dog around 11:05 a.m. she heard a sound that she assumed was a cat and went back inside her house.  Approximately five minutes later she left her house again to clean up after her dogs and heard what she thought was a child crying.

She traced the sound back to a brown van where she discovered a child locked inside. Medics arrived on the scene and broke the van’s window and removed the child from the interior which had a temperature of 115 degrees.

Officers located the owner of the vehicle, Gladys Vinson who stated that she owned a daycare center in Bellevue and that her sister Tina Youngblood had driven the van to transport children to the daycare center that morning.  Youngblood said that she looked in the rearview mirror and thought the van was empty and returned home.  Youngblood was cited for child neglect.
