Police identify motorcyclist who died in I-80 crash

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Officials say one person is dead following an Interstate 80 crash around 9:30 Friday evening.

Officers responded to I-80 W, just west of S 36th St where they located a crash involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles.

Investigation showed a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2006 Ford Mustang were traveling west on I-80 W in different lanes.

The motorcycle and Ford attempted to merge into the same lane at the same time and crashed into each other. The motorcyclist was ejected and struck by a third vehicle.

The third vehicle is unknown and did not stop at the scene.

Braxton Zirkle, 19, of Gas City, IN was identified as the Ford driver. Zirkle had no injuries.

The motorcyclist, 49-year-old Scott Dewald, was pronounced dead at the scene by Omaha Fire Department medics.
