Deputies say they caught a man who tried to flee a traffic stop that resulted in the discovery of 29 pounds of marijuana.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Larry Gross Jr., of Landover, Maryland, was booked into jail for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, failure to affix a drug tax stamp and obstructing a peace officer.
Deputies say they found 29 pounds of marijuana in his minivan during a traffic stop on eastbound Interstate 80, near 90th Street, around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
Gross tried to runaway while deputies searched his vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said, but he was caught near 78th and Nina streets.
The drugs were found in a black plastic tote in a rear compartment of the minivan, according to investigators.
