As of today, homeowners in Douglas County with questions regarding their property valuations can set up preliminary meetings with the county assessor's office.
The 2018 preliminary property valuations have been posted on the assessor's website.
Douglas County Assessor Diane Battiato says homeowners will see less increases than last year.
"Last year we did have a lot of sticker shock," she said. "We found out there was a lot of properties that had not been looked at for re-evaluation for many, many years. So, we started our quest to get that done."
Battiato says her office is looking at ways to deliver more concise valuations. Values are always based on sales, she says, and are not random.
