The Douglas County Health Department is reporting the third West Nile death this year.
Health officials have not released the age or sex of the victim. New figures released this week show there have been 57 confirmed or probable cases of West Nile this year. Of those, 30 people were hospitalized.
In 2017 there were 6 human West Nile cases in Douglas County. None of those victims died. Before this year the county's last West Nile death was in 2013.
