This tax season, dozens of employees at three different companies, Fremont Health Medical Center, CHI Health, and Lower Platte NRD have had their personal information compromised.
Fremont health and Lower Platte NRD use the same third party payroll company, Greenshades.
Numerous employees have been dealing with someone using their social security number to file a fake tax return, regardless if it's already been filed for the year.
16 of the 18 employees that work at Lower Platte NRD have had their information stolen.
Fremont Health said they are still investigating how many of their 1,000 employees could be affected, so far they have said a handful have come forward.
Fremont said in a statement, "Fremont health is devoting considerable resources to ensure its employees are fully informed and protected as a result of this incident."
Investigators are still looking into how the data breach happened.
In a statement on their website, Greenshades said they are watching for any suspicious IP addresses trying to access their system.
CHI health said they caught unauthorized access to their payroll system on March 13th. Less than 100 former and current employees were affected. They also use a third party payroll vendor but did not disclose who that was.
CHI Health said, "Catholic Health Initiatives is committed to doing all it can do to protect the security and confidentiality of personal information and the organization sincerely regrets the impact this has on affected individuals."
They are offering their affected employees a two-year identify-theft service.
Both hospitals said that no patient information was ever compromised.
