Driver dies after striking tree on Curtis Ave

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Just after 8:00 a.m. this morning, Omaha Police were called to the scene of a personal injury accident at 43rd and Curtis Ave.

They say the driver, 66-year-old Glen A. Smith, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Police say Smith was unrestrained and was transported to Nebraska Medicine by Omaha Fire with life-threatening injuries and died shortly after arriving.

This is the 28th motor vehicle fatality the Omaha Police Traffic Unit has investigated in 2019.
