Two dead after Monday crash in Omaha

Chaz Booker was released from UNMC and booked for two counts of felony motor vehicle homicide.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A crash left two people dead in Omaha on Monday.

Omaha Police say a Dodge Journey driven by Chaz Booker was speeding when it ran a red light and collided with a taxi at 24th and Lake just after 1 p.m.

The taxi driver, 49-year-old Terrell Lindsey of Omaha, was taken to the hospital but died shortly after arrival.

The passenger in the taxi, 60-year-old Laron Imani of Omaha, died on scene.

Booker is in stable condition with a head injury. Police say Booker is facing pending charges after he is released from the hospital.

The traffic signal controls at 24th and Lake were damaged as a result of the crash. Temporary stop signs are in place.
