Carl Gauff, 60, was killed in a crash near 36th and L streets Sunday night. His family says his grandson, who was also injured, is in good condition.
Gauff's family remembered him as a caring grandfather, father and brother.
"He was a kind, loving person. He cared for everyone. I mean he would do anything for them," said his brother, Calvin Gauff.
"He had a way with kids. He had a way of getting them to open up to him. He was just a good person," said Jackie Gauff, his wife.
Police say the driver who caused the crash David Hadi, is believed to have been drunk and speeding.
