A true freshman; those words have never been uttered accompanying the Huskers starting quarterback for an opener. Fans say age is just a number.
Adrian Martinez, just 18-years-old, will the the first true freshman in program history to start the season opener at quarterback. He graduated high school early and enrolled at UNL in January.
Fans that KMTV talked to said it doesn't matter how old he is they think Martinez is ready.
"It's something that nebraska needs, a great quarterback that can throw that can run so I'm looking forward to it," said Husker fan Chadd Harrison. "They say he's mature and he can run this offense so i'm all for it."
Martinez said he rode his scooter to meet with coaches on Saturday when he found out he would be starting September 1 against Akron.
