OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Omaha Fire Union is working to enter contract negotiations with the city, but Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert is saying the union missed deadline.
Union President Steve LeClair made it clear in a letter sent to Stothert this week that the Fire Union gave the city proper notice to reopen the negotiations.

Our partners at the Omaha World-Herald initially reported that Stothert says the union "absolutely did not" meet the Feb. 1 deadline.
The city could potentially roll over the previous contract and freeze firefighter wages in 2019.
