Firework stand funds help local charities

Posted

Firework stands will be bust until next week and money from each of the stands is going to a good cause. In the City of Omaha each firework stand gives a portion of the proceeds to charity.

There are over 100 stands in Omaha and each are represented by an organization. Some are churches, food banks, or local athletics.

“This one is our biggest the Millard South athletics and it goes to all of the different sport,” said volunteer Kelly Balkovec.

A local baseball team had a tent set up, “It helps us so our parents don't pay the whole thing,” said player Brodie Lane.

“It goes to help fund uniforms, trips for when they travel out of town, new equipment,” added another volunteer for a little league team and the Omaha Outlaw’s, Rober Renshaw.

Renshaw said he has been volunteering for four years and it is an easy way to give back to the kids.

Thousands of dollars will go towards a charity or non-profit through the firework stands, for a list of some local stands you can click here,  here, and here.
