OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - A lot of possible changes could be coming to a library near you.
In July, the Omaha Public Library Board of Trustees released the latest Master Facilities Plans which highlighted top priorities needing immediate attention, based on a report from the consulting firm, Himmel and Wilson from Milton, Wisconsin.
Some of the proposed changes include building a new southwest location to offset the heavy foot traffic seen at the Millard Branch; replacing Willa Cather with a building near 63rd and Center streets; and moving the main library from the downtown branch to another location while still keeping a downtown library.
While Elkhorn is a little over 20 years old, the consultants suggested replacing the “poorly designed” building to better serve the area since a current service map shows it covers most of Douglas County, according to the firm’s report.
Presently, the board is in the middle of hosting public forums at different locations.
