Omaha Police say speed and alcohol were factors in a Thursday evening crash in North Omaha that sent five people to the hospital.
Police say 35-year-old Thomas Weeks of Omaha was driving recklessly eastbound on Ames Avenue when he tried to turn north onto 65th Street. Weeks' SUV was then hit by a car driven by an 18-year-old woman from Kansas City.
Weeks was taken to Nebraska Medicine for a head injury that is not considered life-threatening. Police ticketed him for DUI-2nd offense, reckless driving, open container, and not wearing a seat belt. Heath and three juveniles in her car were treated at CHI Bergan Mercy for minor injuries.
