Flamingos flock to the metro for good cause

Posted

Some creative people in the metro are finding new and eye-catching ways to raise money for burn victims.

It started when Dusty Ganzhorn's son Nathan suffered severe burns on his leg five years ago while at a bonfire.

Since then, he has attended a burn camp where kids can mingle with other burn survivors.

"Nathan just came up with this idea. He loves the flamingos and he decided he wanted to flock people,” Ganzhorn says.

At first she had reservations, she says, but then he explained to her that they will flock for a cause – raising money for other survivors to attend burn camp.

In order to flock, someone donates money to the family and they will flock your yard with a bunch of flamingos. So far, the tropical birds have been seen throughout the metro ranging from Council Bluffs to the Dundee area.
