The former day care owner caught on camera abusing a young girl was sentenced Tuesday to two years in prison.

The defense argued Lynn Rowe took responsibility and was remorseful for what happened.

“I take full responsibility, and that I'm truly sorry,” Rowe told the judge.

But the judge felt differently.

Judge Russell Derr sentenced Rowe to two years in prison. Rowe faced up to three years, and with good time, she will serve one year.

A video taken by another day care employee showed Rowe yelling and abusing a 4-year-old girl at Lynn’s Learning Center at 112th Street and West Center Road. Rowe surrendered her daycare license after the video surfaced, and pled no contest.

The girl’s parents had hoped Rowe would get the maximum sentence.

"I'm glad that she has to take responsibility," mother Kelley Meyers said. "I’m also... sad because she was part of our family, so I’m sad for her family.”

Rowe will be given credit for four days served.
