LINCOLN, Neb — Former Husker and LaVista resident Alfonzo Dennard will be spending Christmas in a jail cell.
Lincoln Police confirm that Dennard was stopped for a traffic violation near 18th and N st. at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning. When officers attempted to arrest Dennard for driving with a suspended license they say he fought back.
Officers were able to eventually get Dennard into handcuffs. He was booked into the Lancaster County jail and won’t see a Judge until Dec. 26th.
Dennard is facing several charges including felony resisting arrest, third degree assaulting an officer and failure to comply.
