Four minors arrested by OPD's Gang Unit after shots fired call

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — On Wednesday, the Omaha Police Department says four minors were taken into custody after a confrontation that ended with shots fired near 29th and Martha Streets.

Police released the following report regarding the incident and arrests:

Omaha Police responded to 29th and Martha Street at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday after shots were fired in the area. Officers located three victims who said they were sitting in a parked vehicle when a male opened a door on the vehicle. The victims confronted the suspect who started to walk away with four other males. The groups eventually went their separate ways, and as the victims walked back to their vehicle they heard multiple gunshots from the suspect group. No one was struck, but a van parked in the street was damaged.

Gang Unit detectives located the suspects at 29th and Arbor. The suspects fled, but officers took two of them into custody. Two additional suspects were located at a residence near 13th and Martha. The suspects were interviewed and then booked for various charges.

A 17-year-old male was booked for three counts of Attempted 2nd-Degree Assault, Use of a Gun to Commit a Felony, Discharging a Firearm near a Vehicle/Building, Minor in Possession of a Handgun, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

18-year-old Justin Hutfless was booked at Douglas County Corrections for Obstructing a Peace Officer.

18-year-old Zackery Johnston-Salcedo was booked at Douglas County Corrections for Attempted Theft and Minor in Possession of a Handgun.

A 16-year-old was booked at Douglas County Youth Center for Violation of Probation.
