LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — A funeral service for Investigator Mario Herrera is planned for Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

3 News Now will have live coverage on-air and online beginning at 8:30 a.m.

A GoFundMe account has been set up by Investigator Herrera's family. Visit the page here.

A fund has been established at all Lincoln locations of Liberty First Credit Union for monetary donations for the Herrera Family.

A memorial has been placed in the front of the Hall of Justice, 575 S 10th Street. Cards and gift cards will be accepted at that location by an officer. They will be passed along to the family. People are asked to avoid donating perishable items.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, people are asked to avoid coming into the police stations to drop off items. If you want to bring items for officers, call dispatch at 402-441-6000.

Lincoln Police say they are requesting assistance from Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, University of Nebraska Police, and Nebraska State Patrol to respond to calls for service within the city limits on Saturday. Callers should know a different agency may be responding.
