Police ID gas station clerk shot in robbery

Omaha police are identifying the gas station clerk who they say wsa fully compliant before he was shot by an armed robber early Wednesday morning.

Police say at around 3:25 a.m. there were shots fired at a QuikTrip near 60th and L.  According to investigators, a man came inside, confronted the clerk, identified as 50-year-old Thomas Foster, and told him to get behind the counter while he robbed the store.

The suspect then got angry when Foster was unable to open the safe and shot Foster in the arm. The suspect then got away with an undetermined amount of cash. 

The suspect is a male between 5-11 and 6-1 wearing dark clothing. Police are also looking for a dark SUV. 

"Quik Trip is deeply saddened by this unnecessary tragedy. Our thoughts, prayers and full support are with the employee," a statement from the company said. "Quik Trip is actively working with law enforcement in every possible way to assist in the investigation."
