Merck, a New Jersey-based pharmaceutical company with offices in Omaha, confirmed it was one of the victims of Tuesday's global cyberattack.
Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co. Inc., is based in Kenilworth, N.J., that employs around 68,000 employees in more than 140 countries. Merck is "a global health care leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and animal health products," according to its website.

Tuesday's cyberattack crippled IT systems in companies all over the world, including Russian oil and gas giant Rosneft, Danish shipping form Maersk, as well as Ukraine's central bank and the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The attack is still under investigation by agencies including the Department of Homeland Security and Europol.
