OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Some people with disabilities still have the ability to work, but getting a company to give them a chance can be a challenge. Goodwill of Omaha helps people with disabilities find employment.

AbilityOne is a federal program for people with disabilities. Goodwill of Omaha participates in helping people with disabilities find work as well as hiring some directly.

Along with those who work at the Goodwill warehouses, the nonprofit has contracts with Offutt Air Force base, the Zorinsky federal building in Omaha and the Denney federal building in Lincoln. People can work in areas such as postal and custodial services. Their disabilities include physical disabilities, congenital disorders, anxiety and PTSD.

The Goodwill's AbilityOne program has 115 employees. Eighty-two percent of them are people with disabilities.
