OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Work has begun to upgrade two levees at Offutt Air Force Base following the damaging floods.

The floods hit weeks before the repairs were supposed to begin, delaying the repairs. Offutt sustained up to $1 billion in damage and the nearby Papillion Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and levee system sustained more than $45 million in damage.

Governor Pete Ricketts, Congressman Don Bacon, and other local officials were on-hand at the groundbreaking at American Heroes Park.
