A Groundhog Day snowstorm closed a portion of Interstate 80 from Lincoln to North Platte, according to the Nebraska Department of Roads.

State transportation officials ask travelers not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
"Travel remains difficult and is strongly discouraged due to drifting and severely reduced visibility," the NDOR said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
