Guidance counselor at Marrs Middle School arrested for sexual assault of a child

A guidance counselor at Marrs Middle School is facing charges of sexual assault of a child. 

Jeffrey S. Ruzicka, 45. was taken into custody at the school Friday evening. Students were not present at the time and the arrest was not related to any students.  

He is charged with second degree sexual assault of a child. 

The school issued the following statement: 

Dear Marrs Parents/Guardians:
           We wanted to make you aware of a situation that occurred at
school yesterday. The Omaha Police Department arrived at our school
yesterday afternoon to arrest a guidance counselor working here at the
school. The incident took place after dismissal and happened away from the
view of students.  All students and staff were safe during this incident.
While we cannot share the details of what led to the arrest, we do want
you to know that the arrest was not related to any of our students or any
school-related activities. The guidance counselor has been placed on
administrative leave pending an official investigation. We are actively
cooperating with law enforcement authorities.
We are sharing this information as part of our commitment to open
communication with our parents.

Ruzicka was booked into Douglas County Jail Friday evening around 5:45 p.m. with a $250,000 dollar bond.
