Harrison County teens die in Friday night crash

Posted

A Friday night out in Harrison County, Iowa turned deadly when two cars hit each other head on.

"I had a loss for words I didn't expect it at all, in a blink of an eye they are gone."

The Iowa State Patrol says both drivers, 16 year old Syler Haase from Missouri Valley and 18 year old Cody Willis from Logan died after one car crossed the center line hitting the other head on.

The crash also left 17 year old passenger Dalton Anderson injured.

Jessica cook says she grew up with Syler Haase.

"My brother is best friends with him, so I got to know him through high school and sports.”

Just hours after the accident Missouri Valley Community Schools released a statement.

"It is with great sorrow that we inform you that Syler Haase, a Junior at Missouri Valley High School, passed away last night in a car accident. He was active in sports, well known, and well liked in our school community. He was fun-loving and had an infectious smile. He will be sorely missed. "

The high school sent grief councilors to the school this morning.

Students and others gathered to remember Haase.

"Someone so well known you would never expect it, you would think they would be able to graduate and grow up."
