BELLEVUE, Neb. (KMTV) — A local health care company has put together a unique way to help seniors visit with their loved ones.

Hillcrest Health Services will have outdoor windows for families to see their grandparents, parents, or spouses in person. They hope to start using them sometime next week if they get approval.

Fifteen outdoor windows will go to their eight facilities in the Omaha metro area.

They say they know it’s been a struggle for people not to be face to face, but they’re taking precautions.

“As we open this up, we’re increasing our risk of somebody coming in with COVID. We need to continue to be diligent with our screening process, making sure we’re doing our social distancing as best as we possibly can with 6 feet, the plexiglass, the masks, the screening, everything we can to prevent it from coming in,” said Dr. Tony Hatcher, CMO of Hillcrest Health Services.

Currently families come up to the outside window and call the residents but it can be difficult to see inside.
