OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing says an important tax deadline is just around the corner.

The first half of real estate taxes for 2018 must be paid on or by Monday, April 1 to avoid a delinquent penalty. Usually they are considered delinquent on the 1st but taxpayers will have an extra day because March 31st falls on a weekend.

The five area treasury offices will be open an extra half hour, until 4:30 p.m., on Friday and Monday for those who wish to make payments in person.

You have the option of putting your payment in drop-boxes at each location, paying via phone or on the Treasurer's website at www.dctreasurer.org. Postmarks and online transaction dates will be used to determine if you payment is on time.
