Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to a daycare at the 6900 block of South 52nd Street Tuesday afternoon.
The news release from police gave few details but said a caregiver had initiated CPR. First responders continued those efforts during transport to a local hospital, but the baby was pronounced dead.
Police say the preliminary assessment does not show signs of foul play, but investigators will examine the circumstances which is standard in the death of a child.
The Lancaster County Attorney's Office has requested an autopsy.
The police department also noted that they extend their condolences to the family of the child.
