Infant's death under investigation in LaVista

LaVista, Neb. (KMTV) - The LaVista Police Department is investigating the death of a 1-month-old boy.

Police said they responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive child at 7419 LaVista Drive just before 8 p.m. Friday.

Officers said they found the dead infant upon arrival.

The child's mother, 25-year-old Sarah Hartman, was booked on one count of felony child neglect resulting in death. She was also cited for possession of marijuana.

The child's father, 30-year-old Andrew Lowell, was cited for one count of misdemeanor child abuse and possession of marijuana. He has since been released.

Officers also found a 16-month-old boy safe in a crib at the residence. That child was taken to Children's Hospital for precautionary measures and placed in custody of protective services.

The case remains under investigation.
