A prison inmate has been convicted of assaulting a guard during last year's riot at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.
After about 50 minutes of deliberation, a Johnson County jury found 60 year old Roger Weikle guilty of assault by a confined person. He's scheduled to be sentenced in October. Weikle ran at Corporal Joseph Hatzenbuehler and tried to kick him in the head as he fought on the ground with another inmate during the riot.
Weikle is already serving up to 218 years in prison for first degree murder and several other charges. He's currently serving that time at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln
