OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NCDS) is asking anyone with information about a missing inmate to notify law enforcement.

NCDS says 48-year-old Shelton Fils left the Community Corrections Center-Omaha (CCC-O) where he was housed and hasn't been seen since. However, his electronic monitoring device was located in Carter Lake, Iowa.

Fils is described as:

  • 6’ 230 lbs
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes

Inmates at the facility are allowed the "lowest custody level and the least restrictive facility" which allows them to work and attend school and religious services with approval and without supervision.

Fils was serving a sentence related to weapons charges, resisting arrest and making terroristic threats.

He was scheduled for a tentative release of January 9, 2020.

Anyone with information is asked to call local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.
