HAMBURG, Iowa (KMTV) — Last week, KMTV brought you the story of the Hamburg Community School District and its quest to bring back a high school.
On Thursday, community members learned the school's fate.
The Iowa State Board of Education voted unanimously 9-0 to not bring a high school back to Hamburg.
It means current eighth graders will have to choose whether to go to high school at nearby Sidney, Essex, Fremont Mills, Shenandoah or be home-schooled.
The Hamburg Community Schools will remain as a K-8 school for the time being
