The legacy of fallen officer Kerrie Orozco is living on.

Orozco’s hometown of Walnut, Iowa came together to honor her in several ways on Tuesday.

A bridge near Walnut will now be named after Orozco.

Organizers for the effort worked for months to get the bridge named after their hero..

In many of 2015, Officer Orozco was shot and killed in the line of duty..

Those who knew her best reflected on her life and legacy.

The Pottawattamie Community Foundation also set up a "Kerrie Orozco Memorial Fund".

It's a scholarship program that will go to an Iowa student.
